The History, Arts and Libraries (HAL) division of the State of Michigan offers:

  • 1870 Federal Census for the State of Michigan (actual Images)
  • Michigan County Clerk Directory
  • Michigan Cemetery Sources
  • Answer: The Library of Michigan Online Catalog
  • The University of Michigan Digital Library (UMDL) text Collections includes the Michigan County History Section.

    Washtenaw County is now putting on-line some vital records (deaths and marriages) and property data.

    GENDEX (Genealogical Death Indexing System) has been placed on-line by the Michigan Department of Community Health.

    The SSDI (Social Security Death Index) has been placed on-line by several different sponsors.

    LDS Family History Center web site offers access to an extraction of the 1880 Federal census and the IGI (International Genealogical Index).

    Subscription Web Sites
    The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society offers its members access to U.S. Federal Census records and a New York Times database.
