History of the Society

The Milan Area Historical Society was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1972. Headquarters are located at the “Hack House” at 775 County Street.

The purpose of the Society is to educate, collect, and preserve data relating to the City of Milan and the surrounding area, including Azalia, Cone, Mooreville, Oakville, Whittaker, and Willis.

The society also has developed a historical museum. The Friend Hack House preserves Milan’s past. Local history, artifacts, and items from Milan families are on display.
